What is VETiS?

What is VET Delivered to Secondary Students (VETDSS)?

(formerly VET in Schools)

The Vocational Education & Training Delivered to Secondary Students (VETDSS) is a program providing added educational options to secondary students within the Hobsons Bay and Wyndham council areas.

VETDSS offers students the choice of a wide range of TAFE courses in addition to those offered as part of their school curriculum.  These contribute to higher TAFE qualifications, VCAL and to students’ ATAR scores.  VETDSS subjects are designed to develop skills for further employment in a student’s chosen industry.  Students can go directly into employment or receive credit towards further TAFE study.

The certificates are approved for the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) and the Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL) by the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority.

Some courses are delivered in specialised Trade Training Centres situated within secondary schools.  These centres provide an appropriate environment to develop practical skills on tools used in the workplace.

→ Wyndham Trade Training Centre hubs are located on 4 school sites:

  • The Grange P-12 College;
  • MacKillop College;
  • Thomas Carr College; and
  • Wyndham Central College.

Important industry specific and workplace skills are developed through the VETDSS program. Some certificates incorporate work placements allowing students the opportunity to trial a career and helping them to explore possible areas of interest which promote further study and work choices.
