On Wednesday 25 July, The SUBSTATION was abuzz with the launch of #StartWest. More than 150 attendees from across Melbourne’s west came together from four municipalities to hear about the startup program funded by LaunchVic. LaunchVic CEO Dr Kate Cornick opened the night which saw a fireside chat panel facilitated by Mark Corrie (Western Bace) and included Ambika Sharma (Google), Michelle Mannering (MishManners) and Phil Ore (Marketing Entourage). A focus of the program is to encourage collaboration and knowledge sharing.
#StartWest is a multi-council project between Hobsons Bay, Wyndham, Maribyrnong and Moonee Valley in which WynBay LLEN is a partner to support the West’s emerging startup sector.
This project is designed to educate and encourage people in Melbourne's west to participate in the startup ecosystem. Over the course of the next year, the program will include mentoring, meetups, and a capacity building masterclass culminating with the #StartWest Festival, which will celebrate startups in Melbourne's west and include sessions to educate and inspire potential founders.
On the last Wednesday of every month - there will be an informal meetup here in the west. Come and talk to founders, startups and industry experts to hear about their journey and explore new ways to collaborate.
